What Is the SmartPrep SEN Fellowship Nigeria Programme?
The SmartPrep Associate Fellowship Programme is a 3-month, fully online professional development fellowship for Special Educational Needs practitioners in Nigeria. It is designed for teachers, therapists, school counselors, psychologists and general educators who work with children with special needs — and who are serious about taking their practice to the next level.
The programme is structured around three progressive phases:
Month 1 — The Practitioner Lens: Fellows examine their own professional identity, analyse complex SEN cases from their own practice settings, develop research literacy, and present real cases to the cohort in a structured peer challenge. This month is about thinking deeper — seeing what others miss.
Month 2 — The Practitioner in Action: Fellows design complete intervention plans for real children in their own settings, navigate a live behaviour simulation, learn advanced family engagement strategies for the specific cultural realities of Nigerian families, and master professional SEN report writing. This month is about doing better.
Month 3 — The Practitioner as Leader: Fellows develop a real community impact project, learn SEN advocacy and systems thinking, build a professional sustainability plan, and present their complete portfolio to the cohort. This month is about leading — in their setting, their community and their profession.
Who Should Apply for This SEN Fellowship in Nigeria?
The SmartPrep Associate Fellowship is open to practitioners across the following professional backgrounds:
• Special needs teachers working in mainstream or specialist school settings
• Therapists — Occupational Therapists, Speech and Language Therapists, Physiotherapists, ABA practitioners and related disciplines
• School counselors and educational psychologists
• General educators who are transitioning into SEN or deepening their inclusive practice
To be eligible, applicants must hold a SmartPrep Academy certification or a relevant academic or professional qualification in education, therapy, psychology or a related field. All experience levels are welcome — from practitioners who are new to SEN to those with years of experience who are ready to formalise and elevate their professional standing.
The fellowship is not designed for people who want a quick certificate. It is designed for practitioners who are ready to be challenged, developed and recognised.

How to Apply for the SmartPrep SEN Fellowship Nigeria — Cohort 1
Applications for Cohort 1 are currently open. The application window closes on 5th June 2026. There will be no extension.
Here is how the application process works:
Step 1 — Pay the Registration Fee
The registration fee for Cohort 1 is ₦10,000 (non-refundable) - only for this pioneer cohort. This fee covers your application review, and — if accepted — your full programme participation including mentorship, Google Classroom access, all resources and your induction.
Step 2 — Submit Your Application
After payment, send your proof of payment via WhatsApp to +234 816 222 6557 to receive your unique application link. Complete the application form carefully and honestly — your written responses are assessed as part of the selection process.
Step 3 — Await Your Outcome
All applications are reviewed by the SmartPrep Fellowship Committee. Every applicant receives a written outcome — accepted or not accepted. Not-accepted applicants receive a personalised feedback letter explaining the committee's findings and a 50% discount voucher for Cohort 2. No application is ignored.
Step 4 — Confirm Your Place and Begin
Accepted fellows confirm their place, complete onboarding and join their cohort for orientation. Cohort 1 commences the first week of June 2026. Maximum 50 places. When the cohort is full, it is full.

Is the SmartPrep Fellowship a government-recognised qualification?
The SmartPrep Associate Fellowship is an independently awarded professional credential issued by SmartPrep Special Needs Services, a subsidiary of Sheat SmartPrep Ltd — a CAC-registered Nigerian company (RC 7338484). It is not a government statutory qualification. It is a professional fellowship credential — the same model used by many of the world's most respected professional bodies including the Project Management Institute (PMP), the International Coaching Federation (ICF) and the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD). Its value comes from the rigour of the programme, the standards of the awarding body and the professional community it represents.
What if I am not accepted?
Every not-accepted applicant receives a personalised written feedback letter explaining specifically why they were not selected and what they need to develop before reapplying. They also receive a 50% discount voucher for Cohort 2. We do not ignore applications. We treat every applicant with the respect their effort deserves.
Can I apply if I do not hold a SmartPrep Academy certification?
Yes. A relevant academic qualification in education, therapy, psychology or a related field also qualifies you to apply. Is the fellowship fully online?
Yes. The SmartPrep Associate Fellowship Programme is delivered fully online via Google Meet for live sessions, Google Classroom for resources and assignment submission, and WhatsApp for community communication. You need a smartphone or computer and a reliable internet connection.
What is the time commitment?
The fellowship runs 3 live sessions per week — Monday, Wednesday and Friday — for 3 months. Each session is 60 to 90 minutes. Additionally, fellows complete monthly assignments and a community impact project during Month 3. The programme is intensive by design — that is what makes it meaningful.
